Sat Jun 6: Kid Lit
Bookworks has assembled a mini reading festival of sorts.
Not only has it scheduled five local authors to give readings on Saturday, June 6, but the authors are reading and signing books for an audience that tends to be a bit smaller in stature. Come meet and listen to the authors of children's books Giggly Wiggly Worms, Red Truck, The Magical Mrs. Iptweet and Me and The Last Snake Runner, as well as the young adult book Comfort. The event is free and starts at 3 p.m. For more information, call 344-8139, or visit http://www.bkwrks.com. (Sarah M. Kramer) Bookworks

Home Depot & Lowe's KID Workshops

On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon.  (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)

These are free programs and great for both genders.  Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home.  Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project.  Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker.  Home Depot gives a pin for clothing.  These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook.  Take your camera . . . it's a hoot!   Take advantage of it!

On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge.  I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.
