Hi, All!!
The EAA Young Eagles Fly-In is this coming Saturday, June 20th! For those who've been to these Young Eagle events in the past, you know what an incredible event this is! Here's the info for those new:
The EAA pilots donate their gas, airplane, and expertise to bring the joy of aviation to the kids. They line up for free flights and often even get to take the "stick" while in the air and fly the plane themselves (up where the only thing they can bump into is more air). This event is free and coincides with a pancake breakfast on a donation basis.
The fly-in is at the Moriarty Municipal Airport this time, about 45 minutes east of Albuquerque on I-40. (It's the second Moriarty exit, right, through 2 lights and left at the airport sign, the 3rd signal. The airport is about a mile down this gravel road.) It starts at 8:30 and the earlier the better as they won't go up after the wind picks up (and it always does midday in Moriarty).
My daughter has been to several of these events and watches the kids positively glow when they come down. The pilots are patient and answer all kinds of questions, and it's just fantastic how much they donate to give this opportunity to the kids.
I wish we could go to this one, but we'll be at the Spaceport opening instead this weekend. (Lynne's Civil Air Patrol squadron is in the honor guard for the opening ceremonies-Wahoo!)
Good flying!! -Chris & Lynne
