Quoted Text
The Dolch Word List, was compiled by Edward William Dolch, PhD, in 1948.
Dolch compiled the list based on words used in children's reading books in the 1930s and 40s.
The list contains 220 "service words" that must be quickly recognized in order to achieve reading fluency.
The Dolch Word List is comprised of the most frequently used words in the English Language that make up 50 to 70 percent of any general text.

Therefore, teaching The Dolch Word List is a crucial goal of education in grades kindergarten through 3.

I was just needing this THANKS!~C xoxoxoxoxox

I actually just had some ideas published in a teachers magazine, and this was one of them......especially good for children unable to learn phonics such as Dyslexics.......

Hands on I spy Dolch words

dry clear plastic bottle
bird seed
lima beans
glue

With black fine tip marker write one word on each side fo the lima bean ( about 20 per bottle)
fill the bottle with bird seed, add the beans, glue cap closed..... and let your child find the words, great for in the car, or learning centers........
