Hi there everyone, we are getting prepared to Home School our 8 year old only child, we have many questions to ask.
How many ours a day do you teach? and do you spread out the work throughout the year? What is a good Math curriculum for a child who is very artistic/visual?
Is there any info out there about classes that are held during the day especially for Home schoolers?

Thank you in advance for your help

ooooh....how fun!

If I were you, or if I could go back and start all over again, I would plan lots of fun downtime playing outside  and lots and lots of awesome literature in the evenings (check out Sonlight's reading lists, they are tops!). My girls are very visual and hands on too and we really have enjoyed singapore math. The mental math is really cool.

my girls are 6,7 and 9, and they love homeschooling....so i hear, but maybe they're biased soooo.... if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

God bless you! Enjoy this wonderful time!

Slowly.... That's the key. Start with one subject, do your research, ask for opinions, then make a choice. Since all kiddo's learn differently, what works for one may not work for another. You can spend a ton on boxed sets but you don't need to. Pick and choose, give yourself a couple of months to get everything set and settled.

Hi,

I also like Singapore math. It visually presents concepts in a very thorough way. Everyone home-schools differently, and it depends so much on your child and what their needs/gifts/interests are! If you do attend a park day, or other activity and then join the coop, there are different types of classes and field trips posted in the member section. You might check out the Explora home-school classes as well.

There are soo many options, and resources available. Have fun as you look into this!
