Montessori in Everyday Life

Third Wednesdays, 11:15-1:15

Ongoing series about using the Montessori way in your home and child’s education.  $30. MEMBER PRICE:  $27

Oct 21st Sensorial Learning the Montessori Way-
Montessori believed as Aristotle did, that all information about the outside world comes to us through our senses.  This workshop will delineate how a Montessori approach to learning not only utilizes the senses but also provides order and purpose to a process of discovery that starts at birth.  Parents and teachers will discover how to enhance learning through the senses.  Montessori sensorial materials will be introduced and discussed and ideas for home learning will be provided.

Nov 18th Setting Up a Montessori Environment at Home-
A classroom at home can be as large as an entire room or as small as a dining table.  This workshop will help you reshape and use the space and finances available to you in your own home by focussing on the essential Montessori materials only.  Specific needs of families will be evaluated, taking into consideration the ages and developmental stages of the children being schooled and the specific educational levels being addressed.

Dec 16th Discipline the Montessori Way-
Discipline is a very complex concept and there are so many approaches to instilling and enforcing this.  As a result of her extensive research, Montessori devised a unique technique and attitude to guiding children on a path to self-discipline.  Her research and findings will be discussed with a view to providing parents and teachers with skills and tools for keeping order in a classroom but not at the expense of any individuals.

It is not a question of whether you are good, it is a question of what you are good at.
