We may be transferring from the Dallas area to ABQ.  Dallas (Frisco and Plano, TX to be more specific) has a very large and active homeschool community. What can we expect in ABQ?  Also, does anyone know of a homeschool-only Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop in northeast ABQ?  We are currently members of a Pack and Troop that are chartered by a local Christian homeschool organization.

Thanks!

I can't say first-hand about cub scouts or boy scouts, but I can tell you that ABQ has a large and diverse homeschool community for a city our size, and I bet you'll find what you are looking for!  Maybe you can contact CAPE-NM and inquire there about the scout troops:  http://www.cape-nm.org/pages/capenm/supportGroups/index.php
Or someone in the group In Him Home Schoolers might know as well:  http://www.inhimhome.org/

Or try these resource links (they may not all be up-to-date): http://www.abqhomeschool.com/suppgrps.html
or http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/regional/NewMexico.htm
or a pretty large list of HS groups here:  http://newmexicohomeschoolcommunity.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=4.0

Hope that helps!

Hi there!

I lived in Plano for a couple of years, but my kiddo was just a baby, so I can't compare homeschooling there to here.  But Alexis is absolutely right.  There is a lot of diversity here and Albuquerque is a homeschooling hotspot!  Very supportive and lots to do.

When you get here, please feel free to come to our All Homeschoolers Parkday.  Here is information on our parkday. http://www.abqhomeschool.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?b-1.7/m-1245289988/

I look forward to meeting you!
