Kevin Malone and Matt Blain of Corpus Christi run a chess club that meets in Tijeras.
Their club competes in NM Scholastic Chess Organization tournaments against all the local high schools and place very well
(usually among the top 3 schools in our region).
The NMSCO tournaments start around January, so it is probably too late for this year (2010).
However, there might be a couple sessions left if anybody wants to get a taste for how they run the meetings.
Below is their contact info.
They are great teachers who know the game pretty well and have taught some of the best kids in the state
(e.g., John Flores, who placed 3rd in last year's state tournament and is the highest ranked K-12 player this year).
