I'm Nicole Sterling and I have been homeschooling my two sons for two years now. Both my son have been diagnosed with ASD. After fighting with public schools for a few years, I decided to take on homeschooling. After pulling them from public school, I realized that everything the school had told me the boys "knew" wasn't true at all; so, sadly, we have been playing catch up for the past two years and finally started making some headway this past year. They used to be involved with a social skills group. Unfortunately, the social skills group disbanded and we have been seeking social outlets for them since last Spring. Their Father up until last February was helping with their homeschooling, but decided he didn't want to anymore. Fortunately, my boyfriend of over two years stepped in to help. He recently went back to school at UNM and took on a full class load. So, now it's just me most of the time and I have found it a bit overwhelming lately. I used to be very social and then, after my divorce, became somewhat introverted. Given that both my boys, 9 and 12, have ASD I don't want them to become anymore unsocial. I was wondering if there are any other homeschool families in the ABQ area similar to mine or who are understanding about kids with a unique view of the world
