Howdy folks.  I see on the FAQ page that NM law forbids homeschooling another person's child.  Is this still correct?  Is there a creative way around this?  I am thinking about homeschooling my 1st and 4th graders next year (will be 2nd and 5th) and would like to invite one or two other close friends' children in to our "school".  There would be 1 or 2 2nd graders and 2 or 3 5th graders.  Is this possible legally?  Am I asking for trouble?

I'm absolutely not a legal expert, but I do know that the children's parents or legal guardians would have to register the child on the state site themselves.  At that point, they are the homeschool teacher, but to me that could simply mean they are the head of school, so to speak.  If they choose you as a tutor for some of their children's education, I would think that would be a choice they could make.  As homeschoolers, we often work together with different parents teaching a group, or we may pay those who have more expertise than we do in certain subjects to teach classes or private lessons, so I'm not sure your situation is much different.  I'd also be interested in other opinions, though!
