District 3 Residents:
Following are two opportunities to serve on two committees for the City of Albuquerque. Please forward this information to members, friends and neighbors (who reside in District 3) who might be interested.
Youth Council Mayor Berry is creating a Youth Council and is asking that you recommend youth who you feel will represent your district on this council. The Youth Council is seeking members who represent the diversity of Albuquerque and who are pro-active in school and/or their communities. Mayor Berry wants to ensure our teens are participating in local government. Being on the Youth Council will provide participants a better understanding of local government. Applicants should be between the ages of 13-18. Those appointed will serve one or two year terms. Youth Council members will meet once a month. Duties and responsibilities of the Youth Council will include: •Advising the Mayor on City programs geared toward youth •Facilitating two "job shadow" days each year within city government •Serving as the Mayor's liaison to youth-oriented organizations •Developing and implementing an annual public service project • Promoting and assisting in the establishment of effective programs for the prevention of delinquency, crimes involving youth, drug and alcohol abuse, and other issues important to youth
Any one who would like to be considered for one of these volunteer committees should contact us as soon as possible. Please feel free to call or email if you have questions. Sincerely, Diane
