Build an Herbal First Aid Kit:
Upcoming Class Dates: Saturday 9:30 to 11:30am, Jan. 21, 2012
In this 2 hour class, participants will learn how to use herbs for first aid treatment of common injuries and mishaps.  We will discuss the best plant medicine preparations to pack for travel and hikes.  For those who want to get started building their own herbal first aid kit, I will bring along some of my own favorite first aid kit preparations for purchase. Herbalism II:
Upcoming Class Dates: Fridays, 6 to 8pm, Jan. 27, Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24
In this 6 part series, participants will learn how to use herbs for a variety of conditions including stress, chronic pain, insomnia, mood imbalances, deep immune issues, thyroid problems, heart health, lymph flow, urinary infections, and women’s health.  Students will also learn about the herbal actions of plants and how to apply them.  Participants will get hands-on instruction on how to prepare and use herbal remedies including making medicated soaps, liniments, syrups, and herbal honey.  They will also learn how to identify medicinal plants, experiencing them as wild beings during a field class on the mountain. Students will take home samples of the herbal preparations made in class and will build a booklet of reference handouts to keep.  This series is designed to complement the Herbalism I Series, but may also be taken on its own. Each class is 2 hours, except the field class, which is 3 hours.  The cost is $150 for the series, which includes a supplies fee to cover the cost of all herbal preparations.  Class is limited to 8.  This class is offered through The Old School.  To register for this class: http://abqoldschool.com/classes/herbalism/ (Please note: the field class for this session will be offered separately to participants during the summer. Kitchen Cosmetics:
Upcoming Class Dates: Friday 6 to 8pm, March 16, 2012
In this 2-hour class, participants will learn how to make moisturizing skin cream and healing lip balm. This is a hands-on class that takes place in the kitchen. Herbs for Kids: Pediatric Herbalism Intensive:
Upcoming Class Dates: Friday, 6 to 9pm, March 30, 2012
In this 3-hour intensive class, participants will learn how herbs can aid many of the common illnesses experienced by families. Topics include coughs, colds, fevers, sore throats, swollen tonsils, upset stomachs, earaches, allergies, eczema, fungal infections, and more.  Participants will receive reference handouts to keep.
