It's too bad you won't be in town during our regular park day (Thursday)- these are well attended, and a great way to just talk through a lot of these questions and get lots of different perspectives. I can tell you that the homeschool community is large and diverse in albuquerque, and you can find pretty much anything you need if you dig around a little! As kids get older, homeschoolers tend to have to work a little harder to find groups- I'm not sure why, but maybe there are just more of us homeschooling in elementary grades. That said, there are teen groups around- I don't know a lot about them, because we're not involved in one. My kids are 13, 10, and 7- my oldest goes to school, and my 10yo may go to school next year, so our pattern, if you would call it that, has been to homeschool through 5th grade.
My family is part of a homeschool science co-op that meets on Mondays- if you are interested in visiting our class while you are here, email me at hovlex @comcast.net
