WHAT IS A BIOBLITZ? A BioBlitz is a 24-hour inventory of all living
organisms in a given area. BioBlitzes are used to bring together scientists and the
public to establish baseline data about biodiversity of an area. It is an opportunity to
have the public learn and be involved in real science data collection. The data
collected is used to study how species and biodiversity of an area change over time.
WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE BIOBLITZ? This is an opportunity
for a day of fun discovery of the living organisms of the Rio Grande Nature Center!
Join us in small groups led by biologists to explore birds, mammals, insects, plants,
lizards, turtles, and other living things in the field.
