Quoted TextHi everyone,
The last regularly scheduled workshop of this year will be held--Sunday, November 7--at La Orilla Farm (please see attachment for details). We will be covering all aspects of soil creation, nurturing, care and feeding, and reverent use. You will never again think of the ground beneath your feet as anything less than a gift. To celebrate a full season of workshops, and as my way of saying thank you, this last weekend will be a two-for-one offering: Every paying attendee can bring along one other person--spouse, partner, child, parent, bff, whoever--for free. If you don't know anyone, pick up a homeless person or stop at the Co-op and invite a stranger. Or bring that redneck neighbor you don't like (or, if you're the redneck, bring your good-for-nothing commie liberal neighbor). We're all family here. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Soil is the heart of our gardens, our culture, our life on earth. This workshop will include a basic introduction to the permaculture concept of zones as a way of prioritizing our approaches to soil creation. From vermiculture, bokashi, and other effective microorganisms, to hot composts, to lazy composts, to sheet mulching, to maintenance mulching, to green manures and cover crops, to chop-and-drop, to fire, to biochar, to pasturing with domestic and/or wild animals, . . . and maybe a few other surprises, this workshop will touch on it all and show you how to participate directly in the care and nurturing of our civilization. Even if you're an unconscious gardener (and we are all gardeners), you can contribute to the soil-building process by helping things to move through the cycles. Come prepared to take lots of notes (and pictures if you wish) and to get your hands dirty. This workshop contains everything you need to know . . . period.
Sunday, November 7, 1:00 p.m. until finished (three to four hours)
Michael Reed, Permaculture instructor
$25 with reservation, $30 for procrastinators (two-for-one still applies)
