Art History, Classical Studies, and Ancient History Course
This tri-discipline course covers a breadth of material from ancient to classical (c. 4000 BCE to AD
400). Students will learn about the art, literature, civilization, and history of Mesopotamia, Crete,
Mycenae, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. They will also read primary sources (e.g., Livy, Cicero, Caesar,
Thucydides) in order to gain a better understanding of the day and age in which the study takes
place. Requirements for passing the course will include participation in class, occasional homework
assignments, supplemental reading assignments, an oral presentation, a 5-page research paper, a midterm, and a final exam. Each student will need to purchase his/her own textbooks, which will include
an art history book, a Greek history book, a Roman history book, and several primary source readers.
Class fees are $10 per student per hour for a minimum of two hours per week, for a group of 4 or more
students. Classes will be held at teacher’s location on Montgomery, close to San Mateo and Del Norte
High School; teacher may travel to students for an additional fee. For more information about this
course or to register, please contact Bre Stephens via e-mail or phone: (cell) 505-399-0614, (business
line) 505-433-3772, or email@example.com. Classes begin the week of September 3
