Hi! My name is Sarah and my kids are 2.5 and 1 yr old. I am a former APS special education teacher, now SAHM and I am very interested in learning about homeschooling and what sort of community resources there are here. We aren't starting anything super formal anytime soon- I've just started integrating some Montessori type activities and more reading in the the daily routine. My 2.5 year old goes to the Albuquerque Preschool Coop two mornings a week, and we like that so far as a lot of family involvement is required. We can't afford private school in our wildest dreams, and I don't see the public school situation getting any better anytime soon, so I want to be prepared for the expense and commitment of homeschooling when the time comes. The few kids I've known who have been homeschooled were wonderful, well-adjusted, extremely well-spoken, and such happy kids I know its a great option. Plus- I've only done a few days with more structure and activities with my 2.5 year old and he is so into it- teaching him and his brother is going to be the greatest joy of my teaching career. :)

Hi, I also come from APS Sp. Ed. But now work from home and homeschool. I have two kids there are so many great curriculum choices out there to choose from. Personally, I like to pick and chose from different companies for different subjects. Right now, we are not too involved in the activities offered for homeschoolers because both of my kids have medical conditions and doctors appointments plus school just keeps us so, so busy! So we try to go when we can, but right now it's not often.
