Albuquerque Homeschool Forum / Classes and camps / (Sept. 21) Baka Beyond - learn about Cameroon!
Posted by: AlexisCorbin, August 9, 2007, 2:59pm
I'm planning to go to this presentation. Does anyone want to join us? Let me know so that I can reserve a space for us as a group. There's no mention in the info about a price, I am pretty sure it's free, but I will ask about that.
Quoted Text
Baka Beyond is a collaborative project between musicians from the UK and Africa. They will be at the Main Library doing a community outreach program which will include a short (10 minute) film and a 40 minute presentation/discussion about the Baka hunter-gatherers from Cameroon. Subjects they will cover include myths, stories, family life, religion, music, fun & games, and the impact (both positive and negative) of their interactions with outside cultures.
This outreach program is really going to be geared towards middle and high school sage students, although all members of the public will be invited to attend. It will take place on Friday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Main Library Auditorium.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I was a double major in college-English/Anthropology- and this sounds really fascinating. I may look into Stirling making himself available so I can go.
