Hello everyone. I am not a homeschooler (yet). I have a 6yo daughter who is in first grade. I am so incredibly unhappy with her school situation. My husband and I are strongly considering homeschooling in the next month or so. Would it be okay to come to the park day even though we are not yet homeschooling? Oh, we are in Valencia county.
This seems like a great site, and I am so happy to have found it.
Thanks so much,
Erica

Erica, we'd all love to have you guys join us at a park day. I'm not sure about the west side park day (maybe someone who goes to that one can comment?) but at the east side park day there are lots of kids near your daughter's age for her to play with. All us moms and dads who're at the park spend pretty much the entire time gabbing about homeschooling anway, so we'd be happy to answer your questions and/or bombard you with opinions ;)
And I wanted to say how sorry I am that you're having an unhappy time with your daughter's schooling experience. I know how incredibly stressful that must be.
I'm not sure when you're planning to join us, but I do believe that we'll be switching to an afternoon (1pm) start for our east side park day some time in October when the weather gets cooler, so you may want to check back if you aren't able to come for a few weeks.

Hi Erica . . . lots of TLC to you guys while you transition through this . . . :)
This is a really supportive group of families (very diverse, non-judgemental, fun-spirited) and we hope you'll pull from our resources as you season through your decisions.
Best wishes!

Wishing you lots of luck & good feelings as you explore. The home schooling option is so limitless ,that it can be overwhelming. It has taken us a while to get comfortable with our "school style." This group is bountiful in it's expertise & support. Hope to meet you soon.

Erica, I'm so glad you came to the park yesterday. Holly is a real sweetie and Ethan had a lot of fun with her. It was wonderful to meet you.

Thanks you guys. I had so much fun. I know that I probably asked a million questions, but it was so helpful. I just want to say thank you so much for making me feel so welcome. I can be quite shy , but I felt right at home immediately. I hope that we will be able to come again soon. We are still in the decision-making stage but are leaning more and more towards homeschooling.
Thanks again! :)
