On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon.  (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)

These are free programs and great for both genders.  Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home.  Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project.  Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker.  Home Depot gives a pin for clothing.  These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook.  Take your camera . . . it's a hoot!   Take advantage of it!    :D

On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge.  I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.

First Fridays Fractals: In the LodeStar Planetarium

On the First Friday of each month come to the planetarium to behold the spectacular beauty and mystery of Fractals. �Come and enjoy these fantastic creations and learn about the beauty of fractal patterns, fractal mathematics, Chaos Theory, and fractals in nature in this LIVE presentation in our 55 foot digital dome theatre. �This presentation is entertaining for young and old alike and is guaranteed to educate and entertain all who watch!

2008 Summer Swim Lessons

Registration begins May 3, 2008 from 9:00am -4:00pm at the year-round pools listed below. When seasonal pools open on May 26, registration continues at the pool where you want to take your lessons. Group lessons are $25 per child per 2 week session. Private lessons are $12.00 per half hour.

First Saturday Series-Birds- May 3, 9-3:00

Spend the day in the mountains hiking our trails, visiting two hands-on exhibit rooms and observing birds and animals from our wildlife observation deck. May will offer an hour-long education session on BIRDS from 10:00-11:00am.

Star Fire Daycamp

Join us in what has become a yearly tradition in the Sandia Mountains.
Arrive at 9:30 at the camp, and be prepared to do 4 different activities to
include:

For those 8 and older; Initiative Challenge Course, archery, owl pellets and
Bannock Bread

For those under 8; nature craft, (such as candle making, bird feeders,
etc.), Ropes Course, bread on a stick, Nature game

Parents must stay with their children, light jackets, water and sack lunches
will need to be brought along. Wear comfortable walking shoes as you will be
doing lots of walking between the activities.

Cost is $10.00 per child and those as young as 4 will have activities geared
towards them. This is a must pay if you sign up and checks need to be mailed
to me immediately upon signing up, made payable to:

Directions to the camp are: I-40 east/west to the Tijeras exit, # 175. Exit

depending on the direction you came in from. Either way, you should be
heading south at this point and passing Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital on
your left. Continue for 9 miles from the light, turn left at Oak Flat Road,
for 1.5 miles, turn right at the Starfire Day Camp sign. Follow driveway
down to the large circle and parking area.

The Albuquerque Boy Choir will hold it's annual Spring Spectacular Concert this coming Saturday evening, the 17th at 7:00pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Constitution near Moon.

The EXPO is free to the public and no registration is required. All ranges will be overseen by Certified Hunter Education Instructors, using Department of Game and Fish firearms and bows. Safety will have top priority.

The shooting range can be found by driving west on I-40 to the top of nine-mile hill and exiting on Paseo Del Vulcan. Go north on Paseo Del Vulcan 4.2 miles to the park sign, then west at park sign 2.6 miles to the range. For more information, call the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish at (505) 222-4731.
