Albuquerque Homeschool Forum / Introductions / Very green new homeschooler here!
Posted by: AmyJohn, March 17, 2008, 12:15pm
Hi I am a mom of three about to begin homeschooling our two older kiddos. We are all very excited and have enjoyed reading the posts of fellow homeschoolers. I am a little overwhelmed by the curriculum and schedules, but keep reminding myself I don't need to get it all figured out today. Looking forward to meeting more homeschoolers on park days! Amy

Welcome to newbieville! Nice to meet another newbie, I always feel like the only one that doesn't know what the heck I'm doing. ;)

Hi Amy! Welcome! If you are interested, our west side park day tomorrow will have an egg hunt for the kids. There will be lots of kiddos, and we always have newbies coming to join us. You are more than welcome to come join in the fun. If you'd like you can bring 12 filled eggs to hide, if not, no worries, come anyway. We'll have extras for anyone who might like to join us.
It's at Santa Fe Village Park (by the Taylor Ranch library) at 1pm.
Hope to meet you soon!
Cindy :D

Welcome!
I can't recommend a park day enough! There is nothing, in my opinion, that helps a newbie more than talking face to face with other homeschoolers.

Marie, that made me giggle. I hate to say it, but that feeling doesn't go away -- at least it hasn't for me -- but you kinda get used to flying by the seat of your pants. It becomes the new norm!
I'd like to second (or third) Dannie and Cindy that we'd all love to see anyone who wants to come to a park day. No pressure to join the group at all, you can keep coming to the park forever and never join the group. We just love to hang out with fellow homeschoolers. Plus, the newbies make the rest of us feel knowledgeable for a change! :P
Here's a link to the park day times and locations:

Welcome, Amy! P.S. I fixed your post so it was green the way you wanted. Green - how very topical -- happy St Patrick's day. :D

Thanks so much-we will plan on being there. The kids are excited, but a little nervous about "not seeing their friends everyday." So it will be good for them to see there are other kids like them. Thanks! :)

Hi Amy!
Here's wishing you growing confidence on your wonderful path! It is, like everything, a process.
I also find myself on the roller-coaster ride of "am I doing this right?" and "are they doing okay?"
TLC!

I'll second Elizabeth on this- I regularly feel like I don't know what I am doing! But I am learning to be ok with that, because that's what keeps me re-evaluating, making sure that what we are doing works for us. Not knowing what I am doing is my path to flexibility. ;D
Welcome to the "newbies," and hope to meet you soon!

Well if it's chatter you like, you'll definitely have to join the group, Stacy! Most of our posts are hidden from non-coop members, so right now you're only getting a fraction of the fun ;)
