What is Albuquerque Aloft?
It is an opportunity for children & their families to get close to hot-air balloons BEFORE the Balloon Fiesta in a more intimate, relaxed setting.
Pilots volunteer to set-up their hot-air balloons, and possibly launch them, while simultaneously discussing the process with interested children.
The goal is to entertain, familiarize, and advance hot-air ballooning amongst the local community.

So these are open to the public? Or are they meant to just be for the school kids? We are just down the street from one of these schools, but maybe we will watch from across the street or something...

Hi Alexis!
(and, buddy, thanks for your sweet phone message and e-mail . . . I'll respond soon) :K)
Yeppers, these are open to the public - they are so cool! :D
Totally free, uncrowded for the most part, and very conversational (depending on the pilot).
I like giving the kids a preview each year w/this event so I have a clear idea of how they're going to react to the balloons . . . especially while they're young . . . to set us up for success at The Balloon Fiesta.

and possibly launch them,
Oh, I missed the "possibly" part! Doh! I forgot that we are in a no-fly zone! But it was still fun! ;D
