Have you ever had bedtime aggravations? Is dinnertime at your house a nightmare? Do you find yourself yelling at your child(ren) and then wondering if there is a better way? Parents (and teachers) are often looking for ways to assist them in relationships with children, but for the most part most just don’t know what to do other than what is familiar to them from their own childhood. With these thoughts in mind it leaves one wondering what to do. Don’t fret, there is an answer- and it can be found in a method called Positive Discipline. According to their website, “Positive Discipline is a program designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities.” Based on the books written by Dr. Jane Nelsen and others it can be utilized by parents and teachers for teaching life skills, communication skills and social skills, and it “is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults.”
Dana McCabe, a Certified Positive Discipline Instructor and Certified Montessori Teacher, is the mother of 2 young adults and has been working with preschool aged children for over 30 years. $35 up to two from same household! TELL OTHERS - MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIRED.

Did anyone manage to attend this? I am so sad that I wasn't able to and I'd love to know how it went.

It went really well. It's based on the book of the same title and here's a brief article to get you started:
http://www.bodymindandspiritabq.com/articles-and-past-newsletters/the-positive-discipline-approach-to-parenting-my-experience/I read the book a few months back and started incorporating ideas and really see the benefit of the family meetings, both for my kids and really, more for myself. It's been freeing in some ways. The teacher is really good - accessible, funny, has lots of real life stories to exemplify her point. We are hoping to do her seven week series this summer and I've heard really excellent reviews of that series.
