And new to Homeschooling/unschooling as well:~)

My name is Linda and I have two girls Leah(8yo) and Aidra(5yo). We moved here just before Christmas after living in New Zealand for 6 years.
Since it is summer break in NZ, we have been deschooling(my 8yo) since our move... Aidra is getting used to having her sister around all the time

We purchased a house in Cedar Crest and are living in Tijeras while waiting for escrow to close. HUbby works at UNM.

I am leaning towards Unschooling but it intimidates the heck outta me. Mostly because of my Inlaws who are very much part of our lives right now. I am a very unconventional person in how I live my life and quite clear in my beliefs, but they are a lifetime military family and the idea of unschooling would really flip them out, LOL! SO that is my jounrey at the moment. I know I will just match my childrens needs, life is the best 'school' and that I am totally qualified(and then some) to help my children find the resources to learn joyfully in this world!

I am a gentle parent, a student of LOA/Abe Hicks. I have a degree in Psychology and also am a Registered Nurse(although I have been home with my kids for 8 years). I do energy work...Merdiain Tapping(EFT) with my clients to heal emotional and physical 'stuff'.

And I love snow!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Blessings,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Looking forward to meeting you!  Yes, homeschooling is one of those things where you try lots of different things until you finally settle in on a routine that works.  And then maybe that doesn't work next year and you try new things again.  Good luck!

Welcome Linda!  I would love to hear about New Zealand.  My husband and I looked into living there at one time.  We do unschooling with a lot of books as resources, and I still keep going back and forth on it, depending on how our week/month is going. :)  Enjoy the snow! :)

Welcome Linda!

We're out in Tijeras, too, not far from Sedillo Hill. We aren't unschoolers, but live a very relaxed eclectic homeschooling lifestyle. What a unique life you've given to you family moving to NZ for all those years. I want to visit there someday. My sons want to see all the locations that Lord of the Rings were filmed.  ;) Where did you live before you moved to NZ? I assume that you enjoy hiking, camping and lots of outdoor activities living in such a beautiful natural environment such as NZ. There are many beautiful and unique places to explore here in New Mexico and I hope you get to explore some of them. Welcome to New Mexico!
