The Albuquerque Concert Band has been elevating the Albuquerque cultural community with fabulous performances of band music, for over 40 years.
The City presents five FREE "Concert Band" performances at various parks throughout the city giving folks an opportunity to enjoy an evening of wonderful music in their own backyard.

Concerts are held on Wednesday evenings during the summer months.
You may bring your chairs, blankets, picnic/coolers, etc. and relax, dance and listen to an array of concert band presentations.

Home Depot & Lowe's KID Workshops


On the first Saturday of each month, Home Depot offers the same sort of workshop between 9 a.m. and noon.  (It only lasts that long if there's enough interest.)

These are free programs and great for both genders.  Free aprons and eye protection are usually included and available for take-home.  Certificates are personalized and offered at the end for successful completion of the project.  Lowe's gives a patch and a sticker.  Home Depot gives a pin for clothing.  These are fun to collect and/or scrapbook.  Take your camera . . . it's a hoot!   Take advantage of it!    

On the second Saturday of each month, Lowe's hosts a building workshop for children, free of charge.  I believe it starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one-hour.

Daizy the Elephant becomes a Girl Scout!





Daizy, the Asian elephant will celebrate her first birthday at the Rio Grande Zoo and the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails are helping her celebrate!
Girls Scouts will conduct an investiture to make Daizy an official Girl Scout!

But this is more than just a birthday party, all who attend will have the unique opportunity to learn more about endangered Asian elephants and what zoos like the Rio Grande Zoo are doing to help these animals.

Asian elephants like Daizy are very rare, and your actions matter when it comes to protecting them and their habitats.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 28 at the Rio Grande Zoo:
