I personally appreciate the program and the education to everyone on our basic human rights. If you do enter the contest, when you email, let them know you are a homeschooler and saw it here!

“KNOW YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS”
STATEWIDE ART COMPETITION
FOR YOUTH GRADES 3-12
AND YOUNG ADULTS THROUGH AGE 21
In celebration of the United Nations “Year of the Youth,” original art is being solicited for competition and gallery showing. The art should express one or more of the 30 human rights as laid out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These may be found on the Youth for Human Rights, International and United for Human Rights websites: http://www.youthforhumanrights.org and http://www.humanrights.com.
Competitive Age/Grade Categories: There are four categories. Grades 3-5; Grades 6-8; Grades 9-12; and Young Adults through age 21.
Prizes: Each category will be judged separately. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each category. First place—$500 savings bond; Second place—$300 savings bond; Third place—$200 savings bond. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
Materials: Materials are not limited. Your entry must be two-dimensional and not exceed twelve square feet.
Deadline: Delivery of entries will ONLY be accepted at the Main Branch of the Albuquerque/Bernalillo Library System, 501 Copper NW, Albuquerque on Thursday, Friday and Saturday March 24, 25 & 26 3-6 p.m. Please attach a clearly typed sheet of paper giving your name, home address, city, state, zip code, age and grade level, phone number, email address and the name of your school or organization if you are participating through a group.
Judging: Judging will take place Saturday April 2nd. Judges will be from the art community and human rights advocates. Winners will be notified April 4-9. Judging is not open to the public.
Gallery Event and Awards Presentation: The Awards presentation will take place Saturday April 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Albuquerque/Bernalillo Library System Auditorium, 501 Copper NW, Albuquerque. Winning entries will be displayed at the Main Branch through May 2011.
Return of Submitted Art: Winning entries may be picked up at the Main Branch of the Albuquerque/Bernalillo Library System, 501 Copper NW, Albuquerque. Friday June 3rd 1-6 p.m. or by appointment. All others may be picked up Friday April 29th 1-6 or by appointment. Sponsors and partners for this competition are not responsible for theft, loss or damage to entries for any reason.
