Good morning All,
In response to inquiries about the results of the acequia and Rio Grande hydrology study being conducted at Alcalde, much of the information is summarized at the web page below.
(With the re-introduction of Roundup-Ready alfalfa likely in the near future, the ground-water return flow data will have important implications for possible contamination by glyphosate and POEA.)
Please forward to other growers or parciantes in the acequia systems.

Sincerely,
Charles (an NMSU professor, researcher)

The pubs to-date on the hydrology related work at this site:   http://aces.nmsu.edu/academics/waterresearch/index.html

Under the Publicationslink, this paper gives data on specific conductance measurements of the surface water and groundwater through the season to indicate the surface water seepage making it to the groundwater:

SurfaceWaterGroundwater Interactions Between Irrigation Ditches, Alluvial Aquifers, and Streams

This paper included more water quality data:
Surface Water Seepage Effects on Shallow Ground-Water Quality Along the Rio Grande in Northern New Mexico

Thanks,

Steve
