Hello!  I am new to Albuquerque from White Rock, NM.  I appreciate all the information and input on this forum and very much look forward to meeting you as we get more involved.  My 8 yr old daughter is very interested in classical dance classes.  What I am looking for is a studio/classes that are focused on creativity, and love of dance, not competition or stage performances.  Do any of you moms have a recommendation?

My daughter started taking ballet classes at the Hayden School of Ballet earlier this year. It is absolutely wonderful! We too wanted to get away from the crazy competition driven schools. And it is very reasonable. It is only $38 a month for one hour a week. The instructor/owner really is great! You can come sit in on a class to see for yourself. That is the other thing I like...the parents can sit in the studio and watch while their kids are in class.

My daughter is in the class with 7 - 10 year olds. Wednesdays 4pm - 5pm if you want to come by and check out a class!

Thanks to everyone for your helpful suggestions!  There are so many options, but it helps to have personal input.  This definitely gave me somewhere to start.
