Albuquerque Homeschool Forum / Introductions / Possibly homeschooling 11 year old daughter

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself since I've been reading posts for a while and since we are seriously considering homeschooling our 11 year old daughter. My name is Ashlee and I am the mother to four children. Our oldest (11) and youngest (turns 2 next month) were adopted from Uganda. Our 11 year old is currently enrolled in third grade in public school. She is doing very well and loves school BUT APS has decided that she needs to be moved up to the proper grade for her age (she is 11 and in third and, obviously as an 11 year old she "should" be in fifth). We don't want her to flounder academically or to lose her confidence so, if we can't get a better option worked out then we will likely homeschool. She is a very intelligent little girl but has big "gaps" in her knowledge since she has been in an orphanage for the past seven years. I'm eager to learn more and to hopefully meet some of you and your families! I'm also interested in how other homeschooling moms with young children also at home make it work. Cheers!
Ashlee

Wow! Good for you! Amazing what happens when we don't 'fit' in the system. I have been homeschooling my son for 5 years and love it (and some days not so much!). Come to a park day and get to know us.
