Albuquerque Homeschool Forum / Introductions / Hi and is any one meeting at parks closer to UNM?

Hi to all new and old! My name is Jodi I am the mother of three boys 19 mo, 3 1/2, and 5. We are excited to begin our homeschool journey this year, we may possibly be taking the eldest out of Kindergarten as soon as Feb 15th (after the valentine party of course)! We played hookey from Bandelier Elementery this past Thursday to check out the scene at the park. I was the loner sitting in the middle of the play sets and following my three around. You all have a wonderful group of kids! My boys did enjoy playing with the children and it felt wonderful to give my kindergartner more than 15 minutes of reccess! I have been hashing out my homeschool plans for some time now and i think we are finding ourselves in a place of new beginnings and will soon be ready to start.
What i really want to know is this: do any of you meet for park days any where nearer to the UNM/Downtown area? We are in The Nobhill neighborhood and Loma del Norte Park is farther than i would like to go regularly.
Otherwise, the two youngest and i may come to the park again this Thursday! peace ~jodi

Hi Jodi,
Nobhill is our old stomping ground and we are over in the UNM area quite a bit. My oldest is 3 1/2 and youngest only 8 months but we are going to/are doing homeschooling. Maybe we could do a poll and make another park day on a different day? Maybe one that meets less often for the younger set? I hope to enjoy more Thursdays at Loma del Norte but naptime and sharing one car haven't made that very easy lately. I ran into Debra and Robin and their kiddos last week at Summit park but I think that was because they had been to a UNM function.
Let me know your thoughts.
Best, Wren

I share the sharing one car sentiment : ) and would like very much to meet with you and your family at Summit to see if we could get a park group going. Loma del Norte is wonderful but i'm really into reducing our gas consumption (per child! lol!)

Would the week after next work? Maybe Monday the 20th or TUesday the 21st? Mornings are best for us, say 9:00-9:30?

The 20th will work just fine, we will be there around that time. I am pretty new to this forum, should we post this somewhere for others who might be interested to see?

I was just thinking that too. I'd love for a big party to descend upon us in the Nob of the Hill area... I'll post somewhere (as I am a tad bit less new than you!)

I guess it is going to be pretty gicky tomorrow, no fun for the park in the morning. : ( Cold and wind and my middle one just came down with a fever today so we are out. Boo, we could try again next week? ~jodi

Hi Jodi!
It was nice to meet you yesterday. We probably won't be at the park next Wednesday. Hope to catch up with you some other time.
Tammy
