Hello all! I apologize in advance for all of the questions I am about to ask! We currently live right outside of Houston, TX, and will be moving to the Albuquerque area within the next couple of months...yikes!
I am completely clueless as far as what areas of town to be looking to move to, local resources for homeschoolers, churches, etc. I don't even know where to start! I have two children, a boy who is 11 years old, and a daughter who is 9.
I would really like to not be out in the middle of nowhere, as I would like my kids to have plenty of new friends to play with, but right now, I am leaning toward Los Lunas. Reason being, we need lots of space to park 3 vehicles and a trailer for my husband's business, and are not really sure if a newer neighborhood with an HOA will allow that(we have a very strict HOA currently). Any recommendations for areas to look at?
Second, we are going to need a new church home(I apologize if this is off-limits, and if so, let me know, and I will not ask again!) We are currently members of Second Baptist in Houston, which is either the first or second-largest mega church in the country, but we love it, mainly because our children love it! We don't have to necessarily go to another baptist church, nor a huge church, but would love to find one that has a lot of activities for the kids, and I want my children to be excited to go on Sundays! Any suggestions to help me narrow my list down?
Finally, a list of local support groups for home-schoolers and what they offer? We are currently a member of a large support group here that offers a lot of opportunities each month for the kids(and mom) to get out of the house and just hang out/have fun.
Also, our YMCA has a homeschool P.E. program every M/W/F, anything similar there? Just thought of another question: any homeschool girl scout and boy scout troops? I currently have a first-year junior and a new boy scout. I am sure I have a lot more questions, but can't think right now! Thank you in advance!
